The Belgo-Bulgarian Association Best2B
The Belgo-Bulgarian Association Best2B is a non-government organization (NGO) established for the purpose of encouraging the bilateral relations. The foundations of the Belgo-Bulgarian Association Best2B have been laid by Prof. Jacques Vilrokx, Wim Schamp, Luc Carsauw and Prof. Krastyo Petkov. Best2B-Belgium was first registered in 2002 in Brussels, Best2B-Bulgaria was registered in 2004 in Sofia. Since the very establishment of the Association, the economic, social, and cultural objectives have been characterized with one and the same priority. In the beginning, Best2B realized two large projects in the field of higher education and scientific research: establishment of a Master’s program on employment relations in the universities in Sofia and Plovdiv by a consortium of six universities coordinated by the Free University of Brussels (Université Libre de Bruxelles – ULB), and a project entitled “Education Regions”- in 12 regions in six countries for encouraging the exchange of good practices in the field of regional development.
Best2B initiates various activities on the territory of Belgium connected with the promotion of the Bulgarian interests by taking part in activities of the Chamber of Commerce and of other organizations through the initiation of events, such as the “Bulgarian Week”, for example. The Association also organizes cultural events in cooperation with Belgian and Bulgarian musicians and authors.
Best2B Belgian takes part in the organization of Europalia-Bulgaria in the Belgian capital, under the patronage of the Bulgarian Presidents – Mr. Petar Stoyanov and Mr. Georgi Parvanov. The two-year exhibition “Europalia” was one of the most significant cultural events in Belgium, which in 2002 was devoted to the Bulgarian culture.
The Belgo-Bulgarian Association Best2B encourages the Belgium-Bulgarian partnership in the European structural funds and operational programs, encourages direct contacts among regions and municipalities, and the business. The new projects of the organization include the construction of student hostels and an agricultural market-place in Plovdiv.
